TAG Heuer Carrera: Racing Heritage in a Modern Package
How TAG Heuer's iconic chronograph continues to evolve while honoring its motorsport roots.

The TAG Heuer Carrera, named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana road race, has been a cornerstone of the brand since 1963. Designed by Jack Heuer, it was created specifically for racing drivers who needed clear, legible chronographs.
The original Carrera featured a clean, uncluttered dial that prioritized legibility—a revolutionary approach at a time when chronograph dials were becoming increasingly complex. This design philosophy continues in modern Carreras, which balance functionality with contemporary aesthetics.
Current Carrera models house various movements, from reliable Caliber 5 automatics to the in-house Heuer 02 chronograph. The Heuer 02 offers 80 hours of power reserve and column-wheel chronograph construction, features typically found in more expensive watches. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, showcasing TAG Heuer's finishing.
The Carrera collection includes various sizes and styles, from 39mm three-handers to 44mm chronographs. Special editions celebrate TAG Heuer's partnerships with Porsche and other racing entities. At prices ranging from $3,000 to $6,000, Carreras offer Swiss chronograph quality at accessible price points.
